Do you know Busby SEO Test? I’m sure all of you ever heard about it. Many people joined Busby SEO Challenge to prove their skill on Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I already join Busby SEO Test since October 2008. This Challenge will over on Jan 31st, 2009.

I used to be on the top of 100 position. In the next month, I felt down far away from the top of 100 position. It was very hard and difficult to me to maintenance my website to get higher position or at least to be stable for one position. Why? It was because the other competitors was an expert of SEO. Anyway, it was a great SEO Challenge for me. With this, I could improve my skill.

In December, my position for Busby SEO Test is on 114th. It seems I can’t win this Challenge but it is okay, at least I can learn something from this. That is priceless for me.

If we discuss about SEO, we will also talk about social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is one of the important steps that you must do to get back link for your website. If a website has a lot of back links automatically that website become popular in the eyes of Search Engine. Of course, the end is that website can be stand on the first rank on Search Engine.

According to Wikipedia.com “Social bookmarking is a way for Internet users to store, organize, share and search bookmarks of web pages. In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, but depending on the service’s features, may be saved privately, shared only with specific people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, via a search engine, or even randomly.”

If we talk about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), it will be never ending story. Why? It is because there is tons of technique that we can do to make a website become popular in the search engine’s eyes. Besides On-Page Optimization and Off-Page Optimization that must do, there is still some ways. Want to know it? Okay, I will tell you.

The important thing that you must keep in your mind is you must do On-Page Optimization first, this is the beginning for all things. You must build your site to become search engine friendly first. After that you can do these techniques:

1. Make a unique content, write it by you and submit it to Article Directory such as ezinearticles, articlecity, amazines, goarticles, etc. Choose the Article Directory that has high Page Rank so you can get a high and quality back links for your site. Write your own unique article also can be a viral marketing for your site and build your credibility. It is because there will be a lot of readers outside who read and use your article for their website (of course include your link inside). You can use Article Submitter to save your time.
2. Submit your URL to all of Directory such as Google, Yahoo, etc. This aim is to make search engine crawl your URL and make it popular to their eyes. You can use Directory Submitter to save your time.
3. Make a comment to another site that has same topic with your site and has Do Follow. You can check Do Follow with this FREE tool. Make a good comment about the article and it will be great if you can also make a discussion on that comment so there will be 3 ways discussion among you, author and others commentators. You can use Comment Kahuna to save your time.

After a couple weeks doing an observe on the Google position for Busby SEO Test keyword for this Busby SEO Contest, I get a conclusion about content update vs inbound link for your website position on Google. Which one do you think is the winner? You can give your opinion about this.

In my opinion, the winner is inbound link, why? I observe for some website that join Busby SEO Test, those only have 2-3 articles in the beginning without any update anymore until now but those website can be on the top 50 on the Google search engine. I don’t know what kind of SEO that the owner did but I’m sure that those website have a lot of inbound links so it is make them become popular.

This is just my opinion based on my observation, I don’t know whether it is correct or not. How do you think?

The major component of Off-Page Optimization is through Back Links. Back Links are incoming links to a website or web page. In the search engine optimization (SEO) world, the number of back links is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (though other measures, such as Page Rank, are likely to be more important).
